What can I do to help my friend with Colon Cancer?

He kept the truth about how sick he was to himself. He lost a tremendous amount of weight, we dismissed it as an ongoing flu. We didn’t know that he was having trouble with BMs, bloody stool, etc. He would later say that it felt like he was setting on a golf ball. Turns out the doctors dismissed it as hemorrhoids, then finally suggested a colonoscopy. The truth, probably neglected because of no insurance.
He just had surgery Friday. They removed 18″ of intestine, including a softball size mass. They found spots on his liver, may be spread to the lymph nodes. Chemotherapy in his future. He is 51. What can I do?

Gastroenterologist vs. Colon-Rectal Surgeon?

I have an issue that I would like to address more in-depth, and I’m not sure which sort of doctor I should see for it.

I am a current patient of a colon-rectal surgeon because he removed an hpv lesion a few years ago. About six months ago I went back to that surgeon because I was having symptoms again, but he said it was just hemorrhoids and gave me a cream for it.

Those hemorrhoid symptoms never went away and have changed for the worse lately. I also have some other new symptoms like thin stools, constipation, and I’ve seen mucus a few times in the stool.

I have a long history of digestive problems that I’ve never sought medical help for, and this recent change is troubling to me. I’d like to rule out underlying digestive disorders, or even polyps or cancer.

My actual question is this: can I go back to the surgeon to talk about this? Is it within his scope to diagnose things like IBS, Crohn’s, and that sort of thing? Or would I be better off getting in to a gastroenterologist, which would most likely take a while because I would be a new patient?

I’m going to call around tomorrow, but I expect that both doctors will probably say I can see them. I wonder if any of you know which one would be better, or if it makes a difference at all.

Is it a hemorrhoid or colon cancer?

I have had bleeding, itching and lots of pain on and off for almost a year now. I’m too embarrassed to go to doctors but now I’m afraid that it could be colon cancer. Both my grandmas had colon cancer. I’m Just wondering if there are any other signs that it might be colon cancer or just hemorrhoids??
I forgot to mention that I’m only 19. I’ve also been experiencing weird gas like pains that are so painful they wake me up not sure if that has anything to do with it though?

Friend of mine told me about colon cleanse. She ordered the cleanse products on www.drnatura.com and after using it she felt very good. My questions are – DO PEOPLE NEED TO CLEAN THEIR BODIES FROM INSIDE? IS IT HEALTHY?

why do i keep passing loose stools?

I’ll get a sudden attack when i’m on the train or somewhere cold. heart starts racing, get out of breath and feel like shitting. when i wake up in the morning, my hands would feel unbearably cold, and i would have loose stools or diarrhoea.
I’ve had lymphoma tumour removed in my intestines a few years back, finish my chemotherapy and i’m entering my fifth year. the loose stools get worst every year, but the CT scans and colonoscopy came back negative, so what can I do now? Is it because I do not have enough good bacteria in my colon to help form the stools? or is there some other underlying problem? I’ve been to numerous doctors and i’m getting desperate, i can’t go out often as i would suddenly feel the urge to shit and it’s really unbearable…

I have recently had really bad constipation and haven’t been able to go to the loo within 4 days. I went to the doctors about it like a year ago they gave me something but that also didnt work.

Why do you get constipation?
How do you get rid of constipation?

I’m 23 male, never had any health problems until recently a couple months ago I had some stomach grumbling so I decided to get a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy to make sure there weren’t any problems. The results came back fine and the doctor just prescribed me nexium and said he didn’t see anything wrong.

Since then my health care has ended, I’m applying for new health care and am wondering IN GENERAL… would the two procedures I had done limit me in anyway regarding pre-existing conditions in general.

I have no documented health problems and was just given a script of nexium once.

Now I’m having some back problems and I’m thinking the reason my stomach was grumbling wasn’t colon or throat related… if it’s not these are not pre-existing conditions right?

I’ve only been to the doctors like 3 times in the last 5 years never had any documented problems only acid reflux which I don’t even have.

Do the over the counter colon cleanse remedies really work for losing weight?

For about the past 3 months now I’ve felt like I’ve had one problem right after another. Now, I’m thinking that they are linked since sometimes the onset of one condition coinsides with the onset of another…here’s what’s happened and currently happening… first i have been having break through bleeding that 2 primary care drs and 3 gynos can’t accurately diagnose as to why or how to control it. im now on Zovia 150 bc pills and either they are working for me or it’s just coincidence that the bleeding has stopped. about 1 month ago my gastro problems flaired up with (sry if TMI) lagre amounts of gas, loose stools, excessive mucos production in colon, bloating, nausea, vomiting and sever stomach cramping…this wasn’t a bug in itself bc it lasted about 3 weeks or a bit more. i was given some naseua meds but they just made me tired. Now i’m experienceing intermitent light headedness along with distorted vision. it’s like by sight just flickers off to one side or another and i get dizzy for about 3 seconds then i’m fine. but along with these symptoms that happen about 10 times a day i’m extremely tired. i go to bed by 10 PM and usually up by 6 AM for work. wkends i sleep in till about 8ish AM and i’m n bed by 11ish PM. has anyone every had anythin like this going on. any suggestions…btw i’ve been checked for STD all neg…I do have mild IBS but it’s not totally consistent with all my symptoms….and i consume around 1500 calories a day.
OBVIOUSLY…”BARBIE” the doctors haven’t figured it out hun- they are just treating the symptoms one at a time rather than looking at them as a WHOLE…I hate ppl like “U”

Please help in diagnosing me?

Ok so for about 6 months now, i havent had any normal bowel movements. They have been very loose or watery, bright red bloody or brick red bloody, black green, very pale, slimy, and foul smelling. My bowel movements have also been very painful to pass sometimes, but still loose stool. I have gone to the emergency room and they confirmed blood in my stool and that i had diverticulosis (hoes in my colon, but werent inflammed.) i had tests done to see if i had parasites and i had none. I also had a colonoscopy which showed nothing and also that my holes in my colon went away. I had an endoscopy too, and everything was fine there. I’m getting really stressed out and i really wish I knew what was wrong with me so I could get better. I’ve lost a lot a weight, get migranes every day after I eat lunch and get nausous, and really bad stomach cramps. It seems to hurt in my lower left abdomonin a lot too. Sometimes I have really bad back pain and sometimes i get rashes on my chest and elbows (itchy bumps.) These symptoms always worsen at night. If anyone knows anybody who has symptoms like these or has an idea what i could have that would be reatly appreciated. I don’t have a doctors appt for about 2 more weeks (its hard to make appts with my doctors so that’s the best next availibility)
