Could I have had colon cancer for 3 years?

haemorrhoids colon

Three years ago, when I was pregnant with my child, I started developing constipation and abdominal pain. I thought it was just pregnancy-related. It got worse, and worse, and worse, and worse.

After about a year and a half (several months after I gave birth), I went to the hospital because I was in so much pain I could barely breathe. They did an X-ray and said I was extremely constipated, and they told me to follow-up with my doctor and look into getting a colonoscopy. They gave me a bunch of laxatives.

I didn’t have a doctor and I was REALLY broke, so I kept trying to ignore it.

Anyway, 6 months after that, it was getting a whole lot worse and I managed to come up with the money to see a doctor. He was really unhelpful and said I probably just had IBS. I think he only saw me for a few minutes.

So, like three months ago– this is like 3 years after all this started– I finally managed to start seeing a doc regularly. My doctor also thinks I have IBS, but she says I’m still very constipated and that she’s “a little concerned” that there could be something else going on.

I’m scared to death. I’m really low-risk for colon cancer– 23, female, vegetarian for 10 years… I had rectal bleeding a lot about 2 years ago but not anymore (it was from post-childbirth hemorrhoids)… But I still feel like there’s something wrong. I have horrible reflux, constipation, nausea, loss of appetite. I’m underweight and my stomach NEVER stops hurting.

My mom’s a nurse, and she says there’s no way I could have had all these symptoms for 3 years and still be alive and walking around, if it was colon cancer. And my blood counts are norma; no anemia or anything.

I don’t have money for a colonoscopy… I’ve arranged to get one for free, but that’s 8 months away. In the mean time, I’m scared to death that I’m going to die or that I’ve got a massive tumor in my bowels.

Is there any way I could have had colon cancer all this time, and still be more-or-less okay? Can IBS really cause all these symptoms? The pain is unbearable and nothing helps…

Serious answers only, please… And please don’t answer unless you have at least *some* idea of what you’re talking about.

This is embarassing but I have bad constipation? What can I use besides harsh laxatives?

Clean Colon and lose weight?

colon cleaning weight

I heard that cleaning your colon can help you lose weight fast. What is an easy way to clean your colon using ingredients easy to find in your kitchen or the regular super market? And can I use laxatives? I wanna lose weight before school starts.

I have really bad constipation and need to know how to get rid of it?

bad constipation

I’m 12 and recently I’ve been having some really bad constipation. It’s been like this for a while…a month or longer possibly? It’s sort of painful so is there anyway to get rid of it without laxatives? The idea of laxatives just sort of unnerves me. My mom says it’s sort of unnatural for someone as young as me to get constipation so often.
We don’t have any prune juice here. My mom bought me Benefiber chewable things, do they help?

Healthy natural detox, not a colon cleanser?

healthy colon

I recently became a vegetarian and also alot more health conscious, and I want to detox my body just to get rid of all the icky meat and stuff left over. I looked online but all I can find are colon cleansers and laxatives, which I definitely don’t want to use, because I’m only 15.
I drink warm water with lemon juice every morning, does anyone else know about a natural, cost effective way to detox??

Thanks alot!
Thanks for the suggestions but I don’t really want to lose any weight. I just want to become more healthy.

IBS – Should I be Concerned?

general health colon

First off, I wanted to apologize. I already asked this on the Women’s Health site but wanted it in general Health Section. Anyways here is my question.

For as long as I can remember (since about 2003) I have only had bowel movements about 2-3x a week AT MOST. Since 2006 I incorporated tons of fiber into my diet. I get at least 100% of the daily value suggested everyday and still, no changes in movements. I have tried Activia, Flax seeds, Fiber Cereal, Fiber Bars, EVERYTHING. I am Lactose-Intolerant so the Yogurt is harsh on my stomach but I work out at least 30minutes daily and eat very well. I also drink plenty of water. Should I try laxatives? I don’t want them to become a regular habit but I am ALWAYS bloated and can feel build up.

If it will help, here are my stats:
20 years old, Female,
BMI of 19, 123 lbs and 5’6″

What can I do about this? Is it something to be worried about? I have a history of Colon Cancer in my family and do not want anything bad to happen. Please let me know what I can do, if anything. Thanks so much!

Also, I wanted to add that when I do use the bathroom, my stool is not hard. It is regular. I am concerned because I can feel the build up and I am always bloated to a very uncomfortable level. This whole thing is VERY harsh on my stomach.

Lastly, every night I push around my intenstines to help break down the build up and this also does nothing.
I’m sorry I meant Irregular Bowel Movements – I was reading something on IBS at the time! Thanks haha.
